WAGONS – Page 1

As the railway has expanded, and with it, its wagon fleet, so the single page ‘register’ has grown likewise.  We therefore thought it better to split the page into two – one page of open wagons, and the other vans and other wagons.  The term ‘open’ is used in its widest sense, that is, any wagon without a roof, so bogie bolster and machinery wagons etc. are all included in page 1.

Open wagons- page 1   |   Vans and other wagons - page 2   |   Return to rolling stock page   |   Home

On these pages we present an illustrated list of essentially all our wagons.  We have excluded Permanent Way trolleys and the two van bodies used to provide accommodation on our platforms, as well as PMVs, CCTs etc. which appear in the carriage list.  This list is in essentially the same form as the Vintages Carriages Register, which is administered from Ingrow on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, and which serves as the national register for wagons on heritage railways.

We have chosen to display the Warflat last, and below, out of alphabetical sequence, after the Weltrol, and in a larger size since we think it shows the rugged character of Blaenavon in January rather well! It is also likely to leave Furnace Sidings quite soon for duties at Blaenavon (High Level) for a few years
