Despite being a relatively small railway, we have been chosen on a number of occasions as a set for TV Production Companies.
The following is a list of TV programs that have been filmed on the railway:
- Coalhouse at War (BBC)
- Indian Dr Series 1 and 2 (BBC) - series one had scenes filmed between Furnace Sidings and Whistle Inn Halt as well as scenes on the platform at the Whistle. Series two had scenes filmed at Furnace Sidings Station.
- Huw Edwards History of Wales (BBC)
- Jedward (Jedwards Big Adventure BBC)
- Fishlocks Wales
- Safebreakers (C4)
- Dr Who (BBC) - used the down exchange sidings
- Pobol Y Cwm
Using the Railway for filming
For production companies looking for a railway location, we are able to offer the following:
- A location within a World Heritage Site and close to the town of Blaenavon, Blaenavon Iron Works and also Big Pit Mining Museum
- A variety of stations/platforms and railway workshops available
- Industrial Steam or Industrial and ex-Mainline Diesel Traction available
- 1950's/1960's style Mk1 rolling stock, 1980's refurbished Electric Unit and a variety of freight stock available. For the 2012 season, GER Directors Saloon "No3" is also available for use
- Stunning scenery
- Large car park available
